Covid-19 Daily Update Tuesday 4th May

04-May-21

Tuesday 4th May 2021

Covid-19 Update:

Following the bulk COVID-19 screening of staff and students yesterday the school has been notified of seven further confirmed cases of COVID-19 by the Department of Public Health HSE-South (*correct as of 9pm). We are still awaiting a small number of test results (approx. 50) from the HSE-South.
A detailed public health risk assessment has been undertaken. Anyone identified as a close contact of the confirmed cases has been contacted and advised accordingly.
If you are still awaiting your test results you do not need to restrict your movements as this was bulk screening testing of anyone not exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 (*unless you have developed any symptoms of COVID-19) and can present as normal to school tomorrow morning.
The high turnout for testing and the very low number of positives from the screening testing gives us great confidence as a school moving forward that all the steps taken to break the chains of transmission in our school community are working.
We will continue to follow all Public Health advice over the coming days.
We thank all of our school community for your continued support.
Ní neart go cur le chéile.

If your child develops any symptoms suggestive of Covid-19 infection (such as a cough, a fever, loss or change in sense of taste or smell)

  • He/she should then stay at home, self-isolate and
  • You should contact your GP for further advice

The Department of Public Health HSE-South is monitoring the school situation.

With regard to the ongoing implementation of the school’s COVID -19 Response Plan. Your continued support in our implementation of health and safety measures is very much appreciated.

The pandemic is far from over. Students, teachers and school staff have made huge sacrifices during this last year, but in order to keep our school community safe, to keep our school open and to allow the Leaving Certificate exams to go ahead, our efforts must continue. We therefore ask that you do not allow your child to attend parties or social gatherings until public health guidance advises that it is safe to do so.

We are all doing our very best to ensure our school remains open and remains a safe place in which to learn and work. However, the actions of a few could jeopardise these efforts, and in so doing, compromise the running of the Leaving Certificate examinations.
