The leadership programme of Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide was started back in 2006 when the school was first opened. The programme consists of fourteen, 6th year students tasked with helping to integrate and ease the 1st years into school life in Pobalscoil. The leaders act as mentors, sharing their time, experience and knowledge gained from having completed 5 years in Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide. They are chosen through a process that includes a written application and an interview, to ensure that the students have the suitable leadership skills for the job. The leaders work in partnership with the staff from the very first day of 1st year to ensure that the students are happy and comfortable in their new school. They organise events throughout the year including Halloween parties, talent shows, end of term celebrations and treats for their classes. The main reason the leaders are there is to be the first port of call for their 1st years along with their class tutors, they build friendships with their 1st years and explain from a student’s point of view everything about Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide from the administrative side such as the use of their journal and lockers to the practical side such as finding their way around and basic organisation.
