Congratulations to David Collins, Tara Flavin, Eimear Hayes, Kate Ní Ghealbháin, Niall Sheehan and Eabha Walsh who have been selected to travel to Kolkata next April with The Hope Foundation as part of the Immersion Programme along with their teachers Ms Shyrelle Walsh and Mr David Mc Carthy.
The Hope Foundation is a registered Irish Charity working to save the street and slum children of Kolkata from lives of pain, abuse, poverty and darkness. The Immersion Programme gives students from TY an opportunity to learn about the reality of extreme poverty from young people of their own age. Over the next year, they will be raising funds for Hope’s projects and for their trip as well as raising awareness of the plight of street and slum children.
Congratulations also to Adam Danaher, Chloe Walsh, Dara Motherway, Jordan Lupton and Sophie Lawlor who have been appointed as Mentors for our TY Hope students. They join the Senior Mentoring Team of Ailbhe Griffin, Darragh Geary, Dean Mac an t-Sabhasaigh and Marcia Ní Mhóinséil. These students have travelled to Kolkata with Hope previously and their experience, insight and support will be invaluable to our students over the next year.
We wish the group all the best on their journey.
