Physics
The topics covered are Mechanics, Temperature, Heat, Light, Electricity, Modern Physics.

In addition at Higher Level there is a choice between
Option 1: Particle Physics or Option 2: Applied Electricity.

For all topics there is greater depth of treatment at Higher Level.
Students keep a record of practical work throughout the year.
Science Technology and Society is an aspect of the course that promotes an understanding of how physics relates to everyday life.
The syllabus does not require Higher Level Mathematics but all topics require use of the calculator to solve numerical problems (mainly algebra and trigonometry) and the drawing of graphs.

Assessment
Terminal 3 hour written examination (includes questions based on practical work).

Architecture, Astronomy, Biophysicist, Dentist, Doctor, Engineer, Marine Radio
Operator, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Metallurgist, Meteorologist,
Naval Service, Pharmacist, Optician, Teacher, Science Laboratory Technician,
Telecommunications and various trade apprenticeships especially that of Electrician and Instrumentation Technician.

?Radiography and Physiotherapy involve the study of Physics.
