Economics
Economics at Leaving Cert is designed to develop your ability to understand and
apply economic thought, principles and critical knowledge covering such concepts
as wealth, income, welfare, consumption and so forth. It provides a good
foundation in economic growth and policies and prepares you well for both further
education and jobs within this field.
Objectives:
1) To give students a general picture and an understanding of economic activities,
patterns and principles.
2) To develop in students the capacity to apply these principles and to help them
transfer this knowledge to new situations, and to achieve critical thought.
3) To develop in students an interest in everyday economics and to aid them
in their education for citizenship.
4) To provide a suitable basis for further study of the subject.
Assessment
A two and a half hour terminal exam.
Part A: Answer 6 of 9 short questions.
Part B: Answer 4 of 8 long questions.
