CSPE Junior Cert

3A5 class with their CSPE teacher Ms Fitzgerald recently completed their action project on a visit to Haudbowlin, the Irish Navy HQ.
Although the weather was unfavourable, the day was very successful in terms of the aims of the project. The class wanted to learn about the role of the Navy with regards to the Democracy and protection of the States assets and their citizens. The other aspect of the trip was to establish the rights & responsibilities of the Irish Navy to both its citizens and those citizens who are fleeing dangerous situations
Our tour guides were Ronan Coveney, a former CBS student of Youghal and Keith Rogers. The two Navy officers gave and a very comprehensive history on the origins of the Irish Navy.
Their frank and open  discussion left students and teachers in no doubt that these professional Navy officers are proud, loyal and a credit to the Irish Nation to have them representing our interests and our role in the current humanitarian crisis.
