Construction Studies is a straight follow on to Senior Cycle from MaterialsTechnology Wood in the Junior Certificate.
It offers pupils an insight into the various technologies and designs that shape the world we live in and looks into the new technologies that are being developed to provide sustainable energy in our homes.
The core topic for the theory side is looking at the various components that make up a modern dwelling. Other topics that are covered in this course are Planning, History of Buildings, Construction and Environmental Sustainability.

What do I need to do this course?
Having studied Materials Technology Wood at Junior Cycle is important but not vital. A good knowledge of Technical Graphics is important.

Assessment
Theory exam 50%
One day practical exam 25%
A practical project which includes a portfolio 25%
