Presentation to Irish Cancer Society

During March, the entire Pobalscoil community invested great energy in raising much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Fundraising activities included Staff Coffee Morning, purchase of raffle tickets & Irish Cancer Society merchandise. Some Third Year students engaged in buying, bagging & selling sweets at break time. We certainly have some budding young entrepreneurs in our midst ! Money was also raised from the sale of French books to students at a very affordable price.

All activities met with tremendous support & a cheque to the value of €874.05 was presented recently to the Irish Cancer Society. This money will remain within the local community & will be primarily used to fund the provision of “Daffodil” nurses.

Junior Ladies Football County Final

This was a very successful year for the Ladies Football teams in Pobalscoil na Tríonóide entering into 5 different ladies football competitions at both County and Munster level. This included a first year blitz, Senior girl’s county and Munster level and also Junior girl’s county and Munster level. Reaching the U-16 Junior County final was the highlight of the year for Ladies Football in Pobalscoil na Tríonóide. The team had two very impressive performances against Fermoy at home and away to Buttevant in the quarter and semi-finals. On the 7th May we faced our toughest challenge across all competitions when SMGS Blarney took to the field in Carrigtwohill. Pobalscoil had a commanding lead at half time but we knew there was a tough battle ahead under the conditions on the day. Against a difficult breeze the girls showed great character and fought until the bitter end. Unfortunately we lost by 4 points in the end with the final score displaying 5-13 to 4-12. There is no doubt that this was a great experience for all the girls involved and we are hoping to progress on from here next year.
