Credit Union
The school branch of the Credit Union has been in operation since the school opened back in 2006.
Approached by several of the financial institutions to break into second level student life, the decision to go with the credit union was a choice based on several factors.
Their role in the community in the sporting field and community based groups meant that students had a connection with this financial institution.
Their approach to saving and lending is one identifiable with most families.
The scholarship programme which is now in its twelfth year sees the Youghal branch help students embarking on third level courses.
Each year those interested in running the credit union from transition year apply with a written application form and a CV. All applicants are interviewed by the school credit union coordinator and Youth officer from the Youghal credit union branch.
The selected team are given assigned roles based on their areas of expertise and strengths.
Manager, IT officer, PRO officer, Marketing officer and Promotions Officer.
With the help of the co-ordinator the team run this school branch from late September to late May each week during lunch time. Various promotions are held to attract savers such as an opening day competition, Christmas, Valentines and Easter.
The school credit union has been highlighted in the Irish Independent and Evening Echo. It has grown in strength.
